Seacoast Women's Network presents

Tara Whitney on "The Superwoman Myth:

How to Get Ahead Without Having to Be Thin & Perfect"

We’ve all heard what it takes for women to get ahead. Lean In. Take our seat at the table. Have tough conversations. Do less. Take risks. Ask for help. There is no shortage of advice, women’s communities, or conferences focused on one thing: how to empower women to be successful personally and professionally. Yet, the numbers still speak for themselves. According to “Women in the Workplace 2022” by McKinsey, only one in four c-suite members is a woman and one in 20 is a woman of color, which is only a 6% improvement compared to seven years ago.

What’s rarely talked about are the ideals of thinness and perfection that women are trying to live up to. Striving for thinness and perfection is seen as normal and sadly, disempowers, distracts, and disembodies women.

In this talk, Tara Whitney will sharewhat the Superwoman myth is, the impact it’s having on women’s health and career, and how to dismantle it. By sharing her personal story and having candid conversations around what we’ve been assuming is just “normal”, audiences will walk away with a new perspective on how to move forward with their own definition of success that they haven’t had before.photo of Tara Whitley
